Nyeko Joshua, a senior old student and former Head Prefect of Kigumba Intensive Senior Secondary School, was on Saturday elected the first chairperson of Kigumba Intensive Senior Secondary Old Students Association (KISSOSA). This was during the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Starting with energy and vigor, Nyeko, who was unopposed, oversaw the fundraising session which raised Ugx 412,500 towards the construction of the teacher’s toilets. He promised better coordination and engagement of student activities.
The patron, who doubles as the head teacher, Mr Ogwal Tonny Tobias, thanked the students who turned up for the event and appealed to others to do the same as more efforts, energy and resources which would eventually benefit them are being channeled to the old student’s body.
He also informed the assembly that his office will no longer issue academic documents to parents but to owners of such certificates and slips. Mr Ogwal said that when documents signed by parents get lost, students return to school claiming ignorance or rejecting to have ever sent their parents.
The managing director, Mr Asiimwe Gilbert, thanked the outgoing executive – led by Abitegeka Violet -for steering the association in interim capacity asking the new team to learn from both their strength and find solutions to the challenges the association faces.
The MD warned members about living reckless lives and urged them to join and embrace association activities.
“Carelessness with our lives should stop. You can only do much when you are alive,” he said.
